Camposanto Cemetary Sculpture

Her gaze with slightly parted lips and her head resting on her hand was my inspiration. There is such purity in the soft glow of polished white Carrara marble. This sculptor exploited the visual similarities (like translucency) to bridge the gap between inanimate stone and biological human forms, using tools and artistic skill to create an illusion of life within the stone.
